Description

The USB-IO16 contains 16 channels which could be indendantly configured as input or output. The input channels are designed to operate with potentialfree contacts. The contact is connected on one side with the correct channel and on the other side with signal ground (Gnd). The state of the contact is available on the PC.

The contacts configured as output are directly connected with +5V when turned on. When this output is connected directly with ground, this will result in a short-circuit and a destroyed device! This is not covered by the guarantee! The circuit must be choosen in a way that the maximum current of this channel does not exceed 50 mA. The total power consumption of all output channels must not exceed 160 mA.

The channels are assigned to the pins of the D-Sub plug in a way that with the use of a ribbon cable channels 1 to 9 are available with ground next to them:

The size of the device is about 45 x 90 x 23 mm. The valid temperature range for using the USB-Humidity is -20° to +80° C. Using the sensor outside this range may destroy it. When temperature falls below 0°C, the USB cable should not be dejected to avoid damage of the cable cover.

The device is also available in a slot version for integration in a PC. The USB cable is lead through the slot bracket. Alternatively a 4 pin plug is available for direct connection of the USB cable with the main board.

The usage of the USB-Temp is strictly prohibited when the failure of the sensor will harm people. The usage in medical applications of any kind request the written permission of the Cleware GmbH.

Up to 127 devices may theoretically be connected to a PC using several HUBs. This makes it very easy to control hunderts of independant IO channels. When using Cleware USB devices it is not neccessary to install device drivers. The standard USB drivers are sufficient. So the system stability will not be harmed.

The USB-IO16 will be delivered with the software ClewareControl for displaying and managing the device. The software will operate with all Windows® version with buildin USB support. (® Microsoft Windows is a registered trademark of the Microsoft Corporation). No special device drivers are neccessary to use the Cleware USB devices. The already installed device driver are sufficient.

The USB-IO16 may also be controlled via the network. The connection is established with the TCP/IP protocol. On the remote control PC the USB-IO16 appears like a local device and could be handled the same way. Several devices on different PCs could be controlled simultaniously.

The recorded states may automatically be stored on the disk. The compression of the measured values is also supported to reduce memory needs. Export functions to use the data in foreign programs (e.g. Excel) are available.

An application program interface (API) to drive the USB-IO16 from customer programs is part of the delivery. The API bundles some very simple functions for controlling the device. The complex USB device handling is hided.
Linux support is also available.

Every device own its unique serial number. This make it easy to identify the devices even when the USB plug position changes or new USB devices are connected. The serial number is accessible through the API.

The product USB-IO16 comes with a 2-year software update service via Internet free of charge. New versions are made available in the Cleware download area and may be downloaded free. The price is EUR 45.90, equipped with 3,7 m USB cable EUR 49,90. These prices includes the local tax (VAT).
